Abstract

Salt Lake Trade Technical Institute was established March 19, 1947 by law. The act provided for expanding vocational education in school districts with populations of 140,000 or greater.

"Salt Lake Community College is an urban, multi-campus, open access, comprehensive community college with a mission of providing applied technology education as well as general and liberal education leading to Associates of Arts, Science, or Applied Science Degrees. In 1967, the Salt Lake Trade Technical Institute was renamed the Utah Technical College at Salt Lake ("Laws of Utah, 1967," Chapter 116, pp. 283-284). In 1987, it was again renamed as the Salt Lake Community College ("Laws of Utah, 1987," Chapter 7, p. 167).
