Abstract
The Division of Water Quality began as a section within the Department of Health, becoming its own Division with the creation of the Dept. of Environmental Quality in 1991. The Division was created to administer the Water Quality Act (19-5) of the Environmental Quality Code, title 19, written in 1991. The mission of the Division is to protect human health and quality of life by promoting pollution prevention as it pertains to state waters.
