Abstract
A state Water Pollution Control Board was established within the Health Department in 1953 to develop and coordinate programs for the prevention, control and abatement of water pollution in the state. A Water Pollution committee replaced the Board in 1967. In 1991, the Board was moved into the newly created Department of Environmental Quality as an oversight board for the Division of Water Quality.
