Abstract

The Division was created in 1967 to manage the development, utilization, and promotion of the water and power resources of the state.

Biography/History Notes

Its mission is to plan, conserve, develop and protect Utah's water resources.

"Day-to-day operations of the division of water resources are administered by a director who is appointed by the executive director of the Department of Natural Resources with the concurrence of the board of water resources. He is responsible for carrying out the policies of the board including the filing of applications in the name of the division for the appropriation of needed waters, and taking appropriate action to acquire or perfect water rights for projects sponsored by the board."
