Abstract

The Division of Applied Technology Education Services was created in approximately 1991. The mission of Applied Technology Education is to provide all students a seamless education system, driven by a Student Education Occupation Plan (SEOP), through competency-based instruction, culminating in essential life skills, certified occupation skills, and meaningful employment.

Biography/History Notes

The Division administers integrated academic and applied technology curriculum programs in industrial trades, agriculture, technology, business, consumer science, health occupations, economics, and comprehensive counseling and guidance; federally funded programs, School-to-Work programs, Tech Prep, vocational equity, adult education, literacy, Custom-Fit training; and the applied technology centers. The Division of Applied Technology Education Services provides supervision for business education partnership, applied technology education, information services, strategic planning and educational centers.

The agency underwent major restructuring in 2001 when the College of Applied Technology was created under the board of regents and assumed authority over the applied technology centers and services.
