Abstract
The Department was created 1 July 1997. It combined the former Utah Department of Employment Security (Job Service), the Office of Family Support (public assistance), the Office of Job Training, the Turning Point Program (displaced homemakers) and the office of Child Care. It provides employment, training, and assistance in one department. Its mission is to strengthen Utah's economy by supporting the economic stability and quality of the workforce.
