Abstract

The Utah Developmental Disabilities Council (UDDC) was established by the updated Executive Order signed April 5, 2006, by the Governor of the State of Utah in compliance with the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000. The mission of the Utah DD Council is to be the state's leading source of critical innovative, and progressive information, advocacy, leadership and collaboration to enhance the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Biography/History Notes

The purpose of the Council is to advocate for, and strengthen leadership skills in, individuals with disabilities and their families. In addition, the Council collaborates with the legislature, public and private agencies that serve individuals with disabilities to strengthen the service system. The focus of all the activities of the Council is to promote consumer and family directed services that increase self-determination in individuals with disabilities and their families.
