Abstract
The new School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration was created by the legislature from programs formerly administered by the Division of Sovereign Lands and Forestry on July 1, 1994. Its sole responsibility is administering trust lands granted to the state of Utah.

Trust and sovereign lands were managed by the Division of State Lands and Forestry, from 1969 until 1994, and from 1896-1969 by the State Land Board.
