Abstract

The Salt Lake Soil Conservation District was organized August 31, 1959 as a consolidation of the East and West Salt Lake Soil Conservation Districts. The purpose of the district was to engage in the conservation and good use of soil, water, and plant resources, and the prevention and control of soil erosion. The district included all of Salt Lake County and Antelope Island (a part of Davis County).

Biography/History Notes

The District as created, was administered by a board of five supervisors, two appointed by the State Soil Conservation Committee, the other three elected by ballot of landowners and operators within the district. The term of office was three years and members served without pay.
