Department of Health. Division of Community and Family Health Services

Entity: 385
Entity Type: State Government

Abstract

Lowering the infant death rate has been a key goal of Family Health Services. The Division provides direct services such as hearing and metabolic screening to those in need. About 40 traveling clinics serve children with disabling conditions, identify special needs children early and help them reach their full potential. The Child Injury Prevention program has gained national prominence for promoting playground and pedestrian safety. This is done with the cooperation of hundreds of schools and communities throughout Utah. Other educational efforts involve dental health, family planning, the Intermountain Poison Control Center, the Baby Your Baby Hotline, and the Pregnancy RiskLine.
