The Town of Alta is a political subdivision of the State of Utah and provides the following functions: Public Administration, Planning, Zoning, Police Services, Fire Protection under contract, Building Inspection, Street Improvements, Parks, Judicial Court, Sewer Department, and Culinary Water System.
The Town of Alta a political subdivision of the State of Utah and is organized and governed by laws of the State of Utah and legislation passed and approved by the Town Council. The Town has a five-member Town Council where the Mayor is a regular and voting member. The Mayor is the chief executive officer of the Town of Alta to whom all employees of the Town report.
The Town of Alta is governed by a five member Town Council. The Mayor, a voting member of the Town Council, is elected by the electorate of the Town of Alta every four years and is the chief executive officer who governs the day to day operations of the municipality.
