Utah State Retirement Office

A single retirement board for all retirement systems was created in 1963 resulting in the birth of today's Utah Retirement System. Separate school and public retirement systems created between 1907 and 1947 were consolidated into a single Utah State Retirement System in 1967. In 1982 the court affirms that the Board is independent of the executive department. Custody of the Retirement funds was transferred to the Retirement Board from the State Treasurer. Utah Retirement Systems' mission is to provide comprehensive benefits to active and retired Utah public employees in a courteous, timely, and professional manner.
