Abstract

On March 28, 1891, Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County entered into an agreement to jointly build a City and County public building for their joint and common use, for the public offices of both city and county.

Biography/History Notes

The committee was to determine the specifications of the building, including fixtures, to contract architects and oversee the construction of the building. The Joint Committee's plans and actions were subject to approval from both the City Council and the County Court (Commission), who according to agreement were responsible to pay for one half of the cost of construction. (Salt Lake County Commission Minutes, Series 3790, reel 6, pages 78-83).

In order to carry out necessary operations for the construction of a joint office building, a joint committee was created which included three members of the City Council and three members of the County Court (Commission). Their actions were subject to approval of boththe Council and the County Court (Commission).
