Abstract

Caleb Walton West was born on May 25, 1844 in Cynthiana, KY. He joined the Confederate side of the Civil War. When the war ended, he decided to practice the law and at some point he married Nancy Frazer. West became a municipal judge in Kentucky. Although he was a democrat, he was selected to be the Utah Territorial Governor 1886-1888. He was so well liked, he was selected for another term 1893-1896. After that, he moved to California and became a special agent for the Treasury Department in San Francisco, CA. West died in Alameda County, CA on January 25, 1909.
