Agency Histories

The Registrar had the responsibility to record all births and deaths that occurred in the district. He/she would fill out the required information on birth or death certificate forms, retaining a copy locally and sending the official copy to the State Registrar. The district registrar was appointed by the County Commissioner and paid by the county. The process of reporting births and deaths and the responsibilities of the local registrar were outlined in a statute adopted in March 1905 (1905 Laws of Utah, Ch. 120).
