Scope and Content
This series contains published codified compilations of ordinances adopted by the city council or city commission, current at the date of publication. The codification and publication of these volumes was was done under the direction of the city council or commission.
The revised ordinances contain the various ordinances in force in the city, arranged by category in chapters and sections. In addition to the ordinances, the publications may include such information as the organic act for Utah, the city charter, background history of Provo, and lists of city officials over time. The 1937 volume also includes a fold-out zone map of Provo City.

Custody History
The volumes in this series came to the State Archives at various times from various sources. A number of them were once part of the collection of the Brigham Young University Library and had belonged to Joseph B. Keeler and William D. Roberts, who were both members of the city council at some point.

These records were acquired from the creating agency through established retention schedules.
Processing Information
The records in this series were reprocessed and a new container list was created by Alan B. Barnett in June 2022.
