Scope and Content
This series contains standard pre-printed booklets used to track the identity, attendance, and academic performance of students at the school. Each teacher at the school typically used one register each year to track his or her class of students. Each register typically provides space to record the name of the school, school year, teachers name and grade or grades in the class. They also include such student information as student names, attendance, date of birth, home address, parent's name, academic evaluations, and whether or not the student was promoted to the next grade. Longfellow School was located on the northeast corner of 1st Avenue and J Street.
Arrangement
Generally chronological by school year, thereunder by teacher and grade in no regular order.
Custody History
The microfilm copy of these records came to the State Archives in 1971. The microfilm work order indicates that the original records were destroyed following microfilming. A single register from the 1906-1907 school year came to the Archives for microfilming in 1982. Although the work order for that register designated that the original record be destroyed following microfilming, it survived and is the one original record in this series.

Gaps in Series
The microfilm copy of the records in this series does not include any registers for the 1917-18 and1919-20 school years. Furthermore, individual registers for many grades or classes are also missing from other school years. The microfilm includes only three class registers from the 1920s.Processing Note
