Summary of Records
Scope and Content
This series contains ordinances proposed by the Washington City council. Records include the text of proposed ordinances and, occasionally , supplemental materials such as building or zoning plans, correspondence, budgets, meeting minutes, or related ordinances. If passed, an ordinance was signed by the mayor and city recorder and the city's seal stamped or embossed onto the page. Ordinances were numbered generally according to the year and order in which they were proposed. Some of the records in this series appear to be draft copies while others appear to be the official copies. Most years contain a list of all ordinances passed that year at the beginning of the folder(s) for that year.

Ordinances dating from 1938-1950 are not in the holdings of the State Archives.
