District Court (Second District : Morgan County) Naturalization Record, 1903-

This series contains a volume of pre-printed forms used to record the application of a candidate for citizenship. Applicants were required to file a declaration of intention to apply for citizenship at least two years prior to submitting an application. The book in this series documents the final appearance of applicants before a judge. They include an affidavit of the applicant providing such information as place of birth, date of birth, along with date and place of declaring intention to become a citizen. The applicant also declares him/herself to be qualified for citizenship and renounces allegiance to his/her country of origin. The record includes affidavits from two individuals vouching for the fitness of the applicant to become a citizen and a statement signed by the judge granting citizenship to the applicant.
