Biography/History Notes

"Within a unique and beautiful rural setting, our educational mission is to provide each student the opportunity to become a successful and responsible member of society through the acquisition of knowledge, values and skills. We do this through an active and cooperative partnership of the home, school, and community." (Duchesne County School District, world wide web site, http://www.dsd.k12.ut.us/District_Information/missionstatement.htm May 2002.)

"We are a small rural school district located in scenic Eastern Utah. Duchesne County, gateway to the Uintah basin, is home to 4100 students in thirteen schools throughout six rural communities in the county. We have six elementary schools, three high schools, one junior high school, one k-12 school, and two special schools. We are able to provide quality educational programs and enjoy a good relationship with Utah State University Branch Campus, as well as our local applied technology center. We also utilize a fiber optic distance learning network to provide curriculum to our more isolated schools. An ongoing project of the district is to provide modern, safe, and efficient facilities in a pleasant and positive learning environment. Many facility improvements have been made throughout the years, thanks to a strong, united support."
