Abstract

Timpanogos School first opened in November 1892 to serve the growing population of the northwest portion of Provo. The building was located on the northwest corner of current 400 North and 500 West and contained six classrooms. An additional four rooms were added to the building in 1904. The school housed grades 1-8 until the 1910s, when the 7th and 8th grades were moved to the new high school. In 1938 a new school building was constructed just north of the original building with assistance from the Public Works Administration (PWA). The new building contained twelve classrooms, in addition to a gynasium with stage, library, and offices. The school also had kindergarten rooms to accommodate the school district's new kindergarten program. The 1938 building was torn down in 2007 and a replacement building was completed in 2008.
