The county attorney is the public prosecutor representing the state in the prosecution of public offenses committed within the county, except for those prosecutions undertaken by a city attorney. The county attorney also is the legal advisor to the county and defends all legal actions brought against the county and prosecutes all actions for the recovery of debts or penalties owed to the county.
