Summary of Records
Scope and Content
Defendants indexes provide name access to the REGISTERS OF ACTION created by the City Court. Handwritten entries were recorded in columns in separately numbered volumes, with separate columns for date, defendant, plaintiff, and case number.
Research Note
The microfilm copy of volume 3, filmed on Reel 1, does not include cases from the letter "L". These were included on reel 2, along with a refilming of cases from the letter "M", continuing to the end of the volume.
Arrangement
Chronological, thereunder alphabetical
Arrangement is chronological, thereunder alphabetical by first two letters of the last name on separate pages created for each letter combination. Complete alphabetization was not attempted beyond the first two letters, and cases were entered onto the proper page as they were filed.

Processing Information
The series was assigned a permanent retention in 1983. Bound volumes were destroyed after microfilming in 1994. Archival processing was completed in 1994 by Steven R. Wood.
