IPER Training

The Utah State Archives will present two new training courses this spring as part of the Intergovernmental Preparedness of Essential Records (IPER) initiative of the Council of State Archivists and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Essential Records:

The IPER Essential Records Webinar presents a step-by-step approach to developing an essential records program that is based on FEMA’s Continuity of Operations (COOP) guidance. Essential records are those records that are necessary for the resumption of government operations following a disaster. The course covers identification, protection, accessibility, and implementation of a scalable essential records program.

Records Emergency Planning and Response:

The Records Emergency Planning and Response Webinar extends what you learned during the first IPER webinar, Essential Records about identifying and securing essential records which are critical to Continuity of Operations (COOP). It broadens the focus to consider all records so that agencies can plan for protecting and recovering both essential records and additional records that are also useful, or historically significant.

These courses will be held ONLINE using I-Linc software. I-Linc software is available free to you for the duration of the training. A link to register for the software will be sent to you once you complete registration for the courses.

There are 8 sessions total. Each course consists of four sessions. These will be presented over 4 days- 2 sessions per day for four hours. Certification is available for those who complete the entire course.
