The Utah State Archives is pleased to announce Philip Favro as session speaker for our 2012 RIMM Conference.

Mr. Favro is a Discovery Attorney for Symantec Corporation.  During his eleven-year litigation practice, he advised technology companies and other clients regarding complex discovery issues.  Phil’s expertise has been enhanced by his legal scholarship.  His line of research addresses the changes and challenges that electronic data have forcibly introduced into litigation and, in particular, on discovery practice.  He is presently analyzing how the recent amendments to Utah Rule of Civil Procedure 26 may be a model for amending the scope of permissible discovery under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.  He now works with Symantec customers and company stakeholders on information governance and discovery matters.

Phil is a member of the Utah State Bar and is also licensed to practice in California.  He received his law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and completed his undergraduate work at Brigham Young University.  He belongs to the American Bar Association and is a member of the ABA’s Science & Technology Section.  He is also a member of the Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG1) Working Group of the Sedona Conference.  He previously chaired the Santa Clara County (California) Bar Association’s High Technology Law Section and was a member of its Board of Trustees.  He serves as a Judge Pro Tempore for the Santa Clara County Superior Court based in Santa Clara, California.[1]
