Does your institution hold unprocessed archival papers, at-risk image collections in need of digitization, or other historical records needing preservation? The Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board (USHRAB) has funding that will become available on March 1.

We encourage projects from institutions large and small, and are happy to work with you during the application process. Drafts are optional but strongly encouraged and we often find that the most successful applications are those who went through the draft review process. During draft review, you will receive feedback from Board members and State Archives staff and you will have the opportunity to ask questions, get a sense for what the Board is seeking in a successful project, and get experience for working within our online application system.

Funding may be used for archival arrangement and description projects, digitization, or other work on historical records. The USHRAB is dedicated to encouraging public engagement with Utah’s historical records. Projects must include a public access component. Examples of past projects include:

Funding is competitive and applications are required. Instructions on accessing our grant portal are available here.

To learn more about important deadlines, budget tips and guidelines, eligibility, and more, please see the information provided on our webpage. Successful applicants will be required to publicize both the receipt of their award and the project itself. We have provided a publicity guide to clarify expectations and give guidance as you plan your project goals.

Over the next couple weeks, we will be featuring more blog articles on past and current projects. Please also be sure to check our Frequently Asked Questions. And feel free to reach out anytime!
