New Name Indexes Search
One of our most popular online features is our name indexes. We know you love them (especially the death certificates) so we want to make searching them easier for you. Some of our improvements are still in development, but starting today we will be beta testing a brand new interface for users. Toward Better Access: Court Index Digitization
When I first learned how to research court records, it was a multi-step process involving research guides, paper binders, and at least two sets of microfilm. Finding a particular case required me to: identify the court or jurisdiction (perhaps using the Historical Jurisdiction guide) identify available name indexes or alternatives (using the Court Records guide) retrieve and search the microfilm

Do you know someone famous or infamous? Perhaps you can find them in the 3rd District Court for Salt Lake County’s civil case file index. Using this index, which is actually several smaller index books arranged by year, you can search the names of the plaintiff and the defendant in civil actions that occurred within the jurisdiction of Salt Lake
