Mysterious 1880 U.S. Census records solved
A researcher recently requested to look at an obscure record series described simply as “Census records, 1880” (Series 5269). After retrieving the records, Archives staff became curious and set about trying to figure out what the records really were. The records include five booklets that were clearly standard forms (form 7-392) printed for the 1880 Federal Census and have notes

Marriage Records Research Guide updated
The Research Guide to Marriage Records at the Utah State Archives has been updated. Historical background has been added to the introductory text related to how civil registration of marriage came to be in Utah, which helps explain why there are generally no government records of marriage before about 1888. The list of record series has not been comprehensively updated,
