Utah State Archivist Named CoSA President
Congratulations to our Director and Utah State Archivist Ken Williams who was just named Board President of the Council of State Archivists (CoSA)! CoSA is a national nonprofit organization responsible for ensuring that the nation’s documentary heritage is preserved. Members include government archives in the fifty states, five territories, and District of Columbia.
At the annual meeting in Tennessee last week, outgoing CoSA President Eric Emerson transferred the leopard Cape of Power to Ken. This unique cape tradition started in 2011 and features a map of the United States on the back. Each new president pins their home state on the cape and with Ken’s appointment, there are now two pins in Utah! Past Utah State Archivist Tricia Smith-Mansfield was also a CoSA Board President. In his speech, Ken emphasized the importance of collaboration, resilience, and support as the organization moves forward. Congratulations, Ken!
